Millennium Jazz Music and The Jazz Jousters are really things that you need to familiarise yourself with. The usual suspects have taken on a slightly different task with their newest release, instead of piecing together a project that pays homage to a particular jazz musician, with each producer creating something influenced by the subject in question, the Jousters have instead explored the sounds and influences of a particular location. Starting Locations with the excellently executed Japan, and with Brazil to follow within the month, this is a series I can get behind. Enjoy.
I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned Millennium Jazz and The Jazz Jousters on here before, but it’s about time I did. Pretty much everything you’ll find coming through Millennium Jazz Music is mint; the pieces that have taken my attention have been from The Jazz Jousters, who have been releasing a series (now on there 28th project), each one a tribute to a jazz great. This time around it’s to celebrate the American jazz saxophonist, Stanley Turrentine. Letting this one play and you’ll hear Stay Classy, Pawcut, Es-K, B 3 N B i, Oldy Clap Recordz, Bones The Beat Head, SmokedBeat and Dr Dundiff channel Turrentine in their own way. The perfect introduction to Turrentine, each artist involved or just some sweet, soulful music to lose yourself in. You decide. Enjoy.
We hope you enjoy Sugarcane, and you continue to follow MJM on our journey through sound ..it’s going to be a very busy year.
