It feels like I’ve only been posting things coming through Mello Music Group this week (not that I’m even remotely complaining), but what else can I do when they just keep on delivering? The new signee opens his EP with Smile, using production from his now labelmate Oddisee that Red Pill‘s been sitting on for 5 years. Learning To Punch rounds out with Apollo Brown and Duke Westlake behind the boards on one track each. Everyone brings their own on this project and if you aren’t already following everything Red Pill and Mello Music Group, then sort yourself out. Enjoy.
A week ago Rapper Big Pooh announced he would be releasing an album produced entirely by the great Apollo Brown. If you’ve heard output from either of these guys (preferably both) you’ll already know that this is going to end up being a seriously great album; and so that you don’t have to wait in silence until it’s release on March 24 they’ve given us Stop to spin until then. Stop and it’s Steve Roxx feature will sit alongside features from Rass Kass, Blakk Soul, Jalen Santoy, Novej and Lute; and the whole thing will be coming out through Mello Music Group. Hit the jump to read what Rapper Pooh has to say (via XXL) about the single. Enjoy.
DJ Booth are working towards the 2nd release in their Re-Produced series, with an EP of Talib Kweli‘s Fly Away after being re-produced by Apollo Brown, Shoden!1 & Digi+Phonics‘ Willie B., coming December 19th. Enjoy.
After Apollo Brown‘s great release with O.C. earlier this year he is back, producing a full album for another rapper. Guilty Simpson graces Apollo Brown‘s stellar production this time around & they both do more than pull their own weight. Dice Game is a very strong project, only seeing features from Planet Asia & Torae. Pick up a physical copy via Mello Music Group. Enjoy.
Someone once said that life’s a gamble. Kinda like shootin dice in an alley. The risk is high but the gain is higher, and when it’s all said and done, you hold your breath and collect your dues. With lyrics that grip like a handful of ones, and beats that hit like ivory on cement, this album is just that, a Dice Game.
Apollo Brown & OC (of DTIC) have released on of the bonus tracks from their collaborative album. If you don’t feel like buyng it you can also stream the whole project at bandcamp. Enjoy.
