Weekly Match is a weekly series highlighting a song, album, artist etc that doesn’t really fit in with the usual posting on the MatchMusik. This lets me sift through my music collection each week & pull something out that may be a little older, or that slipped through the cracks, and bring it back for all of you to enjoy.
Taking a semi-break from music with this week’s feature. I recently rediscovered Shane Koyczan (thank the heavens), spoken word poet that, is occasionally accompanied by backing music. He has a definite way with words and touches on some really important, serious, sensitive issues, in a way that gets me really wanting to listen to them. Poetry is still alive, and Shane is certain proof. Get behind him on his current Kickstarter project on the release on his next book of poems, and of course look below for some of my favourites from him (including To This Day, an exploration into bullying, and the frontline for the Kickstarter project).
